Arsenal were founded as Dial Square in 1886 by workers at the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich, but were renamed Royal Arsenal Shortly afterwards. After turning professional in 1891, they renamed themselves again, this time calling themselves Woolwich Arsenal.
Arsenal joined the football league for the first time in 1893, starting out in the second division. Things went slow at first for the club that would one day become amongst the biggest in the land, but by 1904 they had managed to win promotion to the top flight of English football.
The clubs geographic location in Woolwich resulted in Arsenal having lower attendances than those their rivals, and this was in part the reason for Arsenal facing financial difficulties and filing for bankruptcy by 1910. They were subsequently taken over by Henry Norris, who, shortly after their relegation in 1910, moved the club to their infamous Highbury location in Noth London. They also dropped Woolwich from their name the following year, adopting their present name of Arsenal.

Arsenal`s Star Player of the Premier League
We have chosen Dennis Bergkamp to be Arsenal`s star player of the Premier League because he has been an amazing player for the Gunners through the mid 1990`s. Bergkamp was very influential in Arsenal`s double winning season when he helped the capture the Premier League and the FA Cup.
When Bergkamp was on the ball there wasn`t many players that could match his ability. The Dutchman had some fantastic years in argubly the best Arsenal side for quite some years, playing some amazing football in the process.
Alot of the fantasic football came through Bergkamp as he often controlled the game. His influence and ability helped alot of the Arsenal youngsters. As soon as Arsene wenger brought Dennis Bergkamp to the club we could all see what a special tallent he was.
