Blackburn Rovers

Manager: Mark Hughes

Chairman: John Williams

Blackburn are one of only 4 clubs to have won the English Premier League since it's inception, and since Jack Walker's millions have dried up, these glory times are no longer a realistic target.  Roy Hodgson and Brian Kidd both oversaw relatively unsuccesful periods at the club, with Kidd even managing to get the club relegated, giving them the unwanted record of being the only former Premier League Champions to experience relegation.

The appointment of Mark Hughes has seen the clubs fortunes turn around more recently, however, with Blackburn now a regular feature in European competition.  Hughes' policy of signing tough, gritty players of his own mould seem to be working wonders, and the recent signing of the extremely acomplished Roque Santa Cruz is certainly one of the buys of the season.

Blackburn Roves star player of the Premier League

We have chosen Alan Shearer to be Blackburn Rovers star player because,  although Shearer is a true geordie and spent many great years at Newcastle United, Shearer was an amazing influence in Blackburn Rovers only success of the Premier League title scoring many goals and being one of the greatest strikers the Premier League has seen.He was the top Premier League goalscorer that season under Blackburn Rovers boss Kenny Dalglish. Alan Shearer had everything a striker needed and has been put on the Blackburn Rovers star player because it was his only trophy winning triumph.

For a player with the class and instinctive goalscoring attributes Alan Shearer had, it is a  travesty that all he has to show for it in winning trophy`s is one winners medal which was the Premier League winners medal in the 1994-1995 season. But still will be rememberd for his brilliant goalscoring record for his clubs and his country and is a legend for Blackburn Rovers.
