Wigan Athletic
Curiously for an English Football team, a rivalry exists with fans of the local rugby team, Wigan Warriors. This is long-standing and predates the club's formation, as previous football teams within the town are said to have struggled to attract support due to the success of the local rugby side in the early 1900's.

Wigan Athletics star player of the Premier League
We have chosen Emile Heskey to be Wigan Athletics star player of the Premier League because whilst they Wigan Haven`t been established in the Premier League for a very long time, Heskey has been involved in most things that Wigan have done well this season.
Heskey has been at some big clubs and although he has been critisised in the past for not scoring enough goals, especially with England their is no question about his attitude and commitment to the cause. He has other qualities up front with his strengh and his ability in the air.
